Who is our client?
Our client is a growing and reputable 3rd Party Logistics business, specialising in the FMCG / Retail Logistics industry and they are currently expanding rapidly. You have demonstrable similar experience in a fast paced transport / distribution / logistics environment. You will develop the sub-contract supplier lists across multiple depots with a view to maximising trailer fill and reducing empty running whilst providing a quality service for clients. A fantastic opportunity to join a growing business for a transport professional with experience in primary and backhaul transport.
The role requirements
You will provide executive assistant and administrative support to the Executive team as well as the Head of HR
You have an understanding of profit & loss
You can demonstrate experience of managing suppliers
You are a natural negotiator and influencer
Ideally you are CPC National or International qualified
You can demonstrate knowledge of multi-site operations, UK Distribution legislation and working best practices.
You possess excellent attention to detail and communication skills at all levels
What sort of people are we looking for?
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in a similar environment, ideally within a Transport / Planning / Distribution environment.
You will investigate sub-contract failures, identifying the root cause and make recommendations to prevent failures from reoccurring.
You will benchmark and monitor the ongoing service / delivery performance of the current approved outsourced hauliers.
You will liaise with subcontractors (4PL) and depots, resolving any operational issues, including arranging subcontracted transport and negotiating rates for this.
You will produce a national backhaul plan, advising on opportunities to reduce costs, reduce empty running and increasing round trips.
Being a strong communicator is essential as you will approach pressure situations in a calm, measured and consistent manner.
You have a friendly, flexible and approachable demeanour as you lead by example in this focussed and driven distribution environment.
Ensure financial reports and invoices are accurate by collating daily and weekly information, confirming this with subcontractors and depots through understanding the transport costs and budgets.
You will conduct market research to gain market intelligence to help develop a pool of future business opportunities.
You will manage enquiries and leads through to successful contract agreement, overseeing the transition into operational implementation.
