Who is our client?

Our growing client provides specialist refrigerated transportation services to the food & pharmaceutical industries. Delivering nationwide from parcels to pallets my client transports all types of chilled and frozen goods. They are immediately recruiting a Transport Planner for their busy, fast paced transport team at their Head Office

The role requirements

You will plan the day to day routes of all vehicles and drivers to create efficient and time effective routes.

You will communicate effectively with drivers to help resolve any issues they have and work with them to get these issues resolved.

You will work closely with the sales team, ensuring all customer delivery requirements are met in the most cost effective and efficient way

You will deal with customer queries regarding deliveries and assist the sales team with adhoc bookings as and when required.

You will manage and coordinate all driver debriefs, driver holidays and compile the drivers rota for weekend and night drivers accounting for any holidays and sickness.

You will assist the live traffic team (when required) to provide customers with live ETA information.

You will work with the Operations Manager on any ad hoc projects

You will be responsible for drivers hours legislation as well as maintaining and updating all operations KPIs to ensure they are in line with Tacho Laws and prevent any avoidable Infringements.

You will plan vehicles in for maintenance and repairs without disrupting the current delivery schedule.

What sort of people are we looking for?

You have demonstrable transport planning experience in a fast paced, in house or 3PL FMCG / distribution / logistics environment.

You possess good geographical knowledge of the UK

You have demonstrable experience of routing software and multi drop vehicle planning / routing

You have strong communication skills, show attention to detail with good organisational skills

You have the ability to work with different levels of people and stakeholders within a business environment.

Strong Transport Planning / Routing system knowledge and / or experience is essential
