Who is our client?
We’re working with an established food manufacturing business which supplies a broad range of products to a number of major retailer and foodservice customers. As part of their plans for growth, they’re now looking for an engineer with good leadership skills to manage a small team of maintenance engineers and play a key role in driving engineering performance and reliability.
The role requirements
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading and developing a team of 6 multi-skilled engineers in a busy, fast paced food production site.
You will directly lead the days based engineers and will also have responsibility for the night-shift, ensuring effective handovers are provided and any issues are communicated effectively.
You and your team will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and improvement of a broad range of production and packaging equipment, working to minimise downtime and ensuring a high level of engineering service is provided to the business at all times.
You will also delegate work, prioritise any breakdowns, monitor stores, oversee timekeeping and ensure all legislative and safety standards are adhered to at all times.
Shift patterns: Days based (0600-1800) on a rotating ‘5-2’ pattern.
What sort of people are we looking for?
You will ideally be a time-served, apprentice trained engineer (ideally HNC/HND) with previous experience of leading engineering maintenance teams, preferably in a food/drink environment although other industry backgrounds will be considered.
You will be results focused with demonstrable experience of achieving KPIs and improving performance.
You will have strong leadership and communication skills and will be somebody who can motivate, coach and develop engineers.
Proactive in your approach, you will be somebody who enjoys challenging the status quo and working as part of a team in order to implement changes and improvements.
