Who is our client?
Our client is a growing and reputable 3rd Party Distribution business and they are currently expanding rapidly in their Forwarding division. In this challenging and rewarding position you report directly and work closely with the Operations Director where you will be responsible for the day to day management of a team of Key Account Managers, working as the departments No.2 when the Ops Director is not around. My client urgently requires an individual who will be responsible for the implementation of new customers as well as the development of business relationships.
The role requirements
You will manage a team of Key Account Managers, ensuring that they manage import consignments in line with agreed SOPs and KPIs.
You will run reports to ensuring that all jobs are invoiced and completed within the agreed timelines.
You will ensure that all Key Account Managers maintain communication with overseas agents, ensuring they are aware of their customers’ sourcing and shipping requirements.
You will undertake (on an ad-hoc basis) customer visits for existing customers as part of a review process or in response to a customer request.
You will run reports to ensure that jobs are invoiced and completed within the agreed timelines.
You will allocate new customers to the KAM who you feel has the most relevant skills to manage the account efficiently and effectively.
You will assist the KAMs and support the Operations Director (where appropriate).
What sort of people are we looking for?
You can demonstrate a clear understanding of Key Account Management as well as International Logistics / Forwarding.
You have at least 2-3 years man management experience in a similar role with demonstrable experience in an International Logistics / Freight Forwarding environment.
You have a high level of business and commercial acumen and can contribute to broader business issues.
You are an achiever, who can create a shared vision, energise others, challenge the status quo and drive change.
It would be hugely advantageous if you are a seasoned ‘Forwarding’ Key Account Manager.
