Who is our client?
We’re working with a leading food manufacturer which produces a broad range of market leading products. An established business with a great reputation for product quality and innovation, they’re now looking for two Laboratory Managers to manage either the Microbiology or Chemistry teams.
The role requirements
Leading a small team of Laboratory Analysts and Technicians, you will be responsible for managing microbiological or chemistry services (depending on your discipline) across a large food production site.
You will manage daily laboratory activities and lead a team responsible for the testing of ingredients/materials and finished products as well as environmental testing.
You will also provide a wider service to the business; ensuring appropriate risk assessments are in place, investigating potential risks to food safety, advising technical and hygiene teams, and ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
What sort of people are we looking for?
You will be degree qualified in Chemistry or Microbiology (or a relevant science discipline) with prior experience of working in laboratory roles in the food industry.
Prior leadership experience would be ideal but is not essential as our client is also prepared to provide training and support to somebody looking for their first managerial position.
You will have experience of lab work, undertaking microbiological/chemical analysis, coupled with demonstrable knowledge of current food safety standards and legislation.
Proactive in your approach, you will constantly look for new and improved ways of working in order to preempt potential risks.
