Who is our client?

Our client is a leading food manufacturing business supplying a broad range of chilled products to all of the major UK retailers. They’re now looking for a well qualified Engineer with food industry experience to join their team and play a key role in driving improvements and engineering reliability.

The role requirements

Working as part of the engineering maintenance team you will be responsible for undertaking planned maintenance activities, responding quickly to breakdowns, working on projects and ensuring all team KPIs are met.

You will be maintaining equipment across the process and packaging areas of a large food production site, working on equipment such conveyors, ovens, mixers, scales, rinsers, labellers, wrapping machinery, palletisers etc.

You will continually look for new and improved ways of working, identifying CI and efficiency improvement opportunities.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring machine/plant safety, working to identify and rectify any potential health & safety and hygiene issues.

Shift Pattern - Nights (4 on/off, 6pm-6am)

What sort of people are we looking for?

You will be an apprentice trained, electrically biased Engineer ideally qualified at HNC level or above with experience of working in maintenance positions in the food and drinks industry.

PLC knowledge would be beneficial - you don’t need to programme but experience of fault finding/interrogating systems is desirable.

In addition to your electrical skills, you will have a sound mechanical background.

Confident in your approach you will be able to work autonomously and prioritise your workload effectively as you will be working with minimal supervision.

You will have a demonstrable knowledge of modern manufacturing tools and methodologies (5S, Lean, Kaizen, TPM).
