Who is our client?

Our client is a leading food business producing a broad range of leading branded and retailer own label products. This is a great time to join a highly profitable, world-class manufacturing organisation which, due to ongoing growth and investment, is looking to expand their engineering team. As such, they offer excellent opportunities for further training and career development.

The role requirements

Working as part of the site engineering maintenance team you will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance of a range of manufacturing and packaging equipment across a high volume, fast paced food business.

You will work with a high level of autonomy, following PPM schedules and responding quickly to breakdowns in order to minimise downtime and ensure a high level of service is provided.

You will take part in Continuous Improvement projects and initiatives, constantly looking for new and more effective ways of working in order to drive engineering asset reliability and performance.

You will also play a key role in future Capex projects.

What sort of people are we looking for?

You will be an apprentice trained, multi-skilled Engineer with experience of working in maintenance engineering roles and, preferably, with further relevant qualifications (HNC or above).

A background in food manufacturing would be ideal but our client is more interested in attitudes and behaviours so other industries (eg, pharmaceutical, automotive, printing, consumer goods) will be considered.

In addition to your planned/reactive experience, you will have a sound knowledge and understanding of a range of tools, techniques and methodologies (5S, Lean, Kaizen, TPM).

You will have proven PLC fault finding experience (Allen Bradley, Siemens S5/S7, Mitsubishi). Knowledge and experience of robotics would be an advantage.

Confident in your approach, you will be comfortable challenging the status-quo and will also be able to coach and train colleagues in engineering and production.
