Who is our client?

Our client is a leading food business operating out of a number of sites across the UK, supplying a range of products to major retailers, wholesalers and other food manufacturers. They’re now looking for an Operations Manager who can play a key role in driving improvements and managing change across a fast paced, high-volume organisation.

The role requirements

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for all manufacturing activities from goods intake through to processing, packing and despatch, leading a large team in excess of 300 people.

You will play a key role in shaping and delivering site strategy, working as part of the site management team to drive change, improve business performance, and ensure that the business maintains strong relationships with all customers.

Leading through a team of 8 direct reports, you will coach, develop and motivate your team, working closely with them to instil a high performance culture where progression and career development is encouraged.

What sort of people are we looking for?

You will have demonstrable experience of managing and developing large production teams in a food manufacturing environment, with overall responsibility for ensuring all production targets and objectives are delivered and customer requirements are met at all times.

Although you will be operating at a senior and strategic level, our client is looking for somebody who is still a ‘hands on’ manager who can coach, develop and engage with team members at all levels and create a proactive, CI based culture.

The business is constantly evolving, including plans to further enhance its product range, so you will be somebody who can deliver and manage change and look for new and innovative ways of working.

Results driven, you will have a strong background in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement with proven expertise in improving performance, driving efficiencies and reducing costs.

Health & Safety is paramount so will have a strong background in delivering HSE improvements and, preferably, formal relevant qualifications (IOSH/NEBOSH).
