Who is our client?

Our client is a growing and reputable 3rd Party Logistics business and they are currently expanding rapidly. They are looking to immediately appoint a Payroll Officer who will ensure that the payroll is processed accurately and on time within set deadlines. You ideally have demonstrable experience in a similar role at fast paced transport / distribution / logistics environment where you process driver payroll.

The role requirements

You will process the weekly payroll in line with current legislation.

You will also undertake all payroll duties for approx 90 drivers with complexities within payroll because of the varied shifts and allowances they work.

You will process Real Time Information to the HMRC as well as producing weekly payroll reports for the site accountants.

You will enter journals onto the Sage Accounts system, ensuring that all payments for AEO’s, Court Orders, CSA, PAYE, NIC payments etc are also paid on time.

You will deal with payment queries an assist the Payroll Manager in improving and implementing new policy and procedures where appropriate.

You will auto enrol the pension administration balance sheet reconciliations for the business as well as undertaking general administration duties.

What sort of people are we looking for?

The successful candidate sound knowledge of computerised payroll systems (Sage Payroll experience is highly desirable).

You have a good understanding of HMRC requirements and the implications for processing payroll, online HMRC submissions and processing tax ‘year end’ functions.

You have experience of using Time and Attendance systems to calculate weekly wages for staff.

You Excellent communication skills, ability to work in a fast paced environment, to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

You have a flexible approach to achieving deadlines and can adapt to changing work environments.
