Who is our client?

Our client are a leading blue chip construction products / supplies business and they are looking to appoint a Procurement Manager. Based at head office in South Yorkshire this role will also involve some nationwide travel. The role will be to source, purchase and achieve the supply of quality products to the business for a defined category and will suit an ambitious purchasing / procurement professional with knowledge in a similar construction / building supplies related category.

The role requirements

You will report directly to the Senior Procurement Manager, with responsibility for improving ‘Cost of Goods Sold’ (COGS), to support profit through effective negotiation with suppliers for a defined category.

You will look to maximise gross profit through effective negotiation with suppliers in line with company expectations

You will develop and enhance relationships with suppliers and ensure they understand and meet the company's service requirements.

You will manage the suppliers in order to continually improve stock availability and maximise stock turn and maintain accurate records of supplier negotiations and agreements.

You will develop, present and gain approval for business plans and resources for your defined category.

You will establish the price of products and ensure that sales and profit targets are achieved, whilst developing the product range to meet the needs of the customers.

You will actively work cross functionally to bring new products to the market as well as gathering market data to support range and product development.

You will optimise stock turn through robust supply chain management.

What sort of people are we looking for?

You are ideally degree or similar level qualified, and hold a CIPS or a similar professional qualification.

You are commercially experienced in delivering profit enhancement, ideally in a high volume construction supplies category or similar.

You have a proven track record and experience of category management in indirect markets.

You possess a good level of commercial understanding of Procurement concepts and their impact on a business.

Global market awareness with proven ability to source from diverse market sectors is advantageous
